The University of Management and Design was founded in 2009 with the mission "to contribute to the educational, cultural, economic and social advancement of Bishkek and the region by giving graduates a European class vocational, undergraduate and graduate education."

UMD's graduates will be leaders in their respective professions, critical thinkers, creative individuals and will be able to operate in any environment. They will be encouraged to adhere to the highest ethical standards, to feel the burden of social responsibility and to be committed to democratic values.

UMD's research will contribute to the advancement of universal knowledge and influence intellectual, technological, economic and social developments in Bishkek and the region.
