Students who apply to the programmes of The University of Management and Design must be in their last year of secondary education or have successfully completed secondary education in the Kyrgyz Republic or at a school equivalent to that of an International High School. Lastly, they must meet the specific requirements of the programme of higher education in which they wish to enroll.
All prospective students must sit an enrolment test to establish their educational needs:
- English Language proficiency test (IELTS or TOEFL), unless they have taken a official test within the last 12 months and received a score acceptable to the University (IELTS 5, TOEFL 500).
- Maths test.
- Basic Information Technology and Communications (ICT) test.
Students should bring with them a pen, pencil and a calculator. There is a small administrative fee of 100 soms.
The University will be holding Entrance Examinations twice monthly till August 2010 for the Autumn Semester 2010.

Students who have not attained an English language proficiency sufficient to enrol on to UMD's Diploma programmes may attend UMD English preparatory classes and sit a certificated ILETS test of English proficiency.
